Psychiatric Technician (Safety) - Calipatria State Prison (CAL)

About the Role
This position is for a Psychiatric Technician (PT) (Safety) at Calipatria State Prison (CAL), located in Calipatria, CA, within Imperial County. The position is part-time, working 20 hours per week, with a monthly salary range of $3067.00 to $3921.50. The position is effective July 1, 2025, and is subject to the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).
Responsibilities
- Organize and provide basic nursing and psychiatric care to patients in correctional health care settings.
- Ensure timely delivery of appropriate health care under the authorization of a provider’s order and clinical direction from a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Support daily health care operations and communicate effectively with patients and the health care team.
- Address ongoing patient needs and promote efficient use of health care resources.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized training program in psychiatric nursing or a related field.
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Technician (PT) (Safety).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
- Experience in correctional health care settings preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with the health care team.
- Knowledge of mental health programs and policies.
Skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
- Basic computer skills for accessing patient records and scheduling.
