Psychiatric Technician (Safety) - California Correctional Institution (CCI)

Duties

• Organizes and provides a basic level of general nursing and behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients in correctional health care settings.
• Ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients under valid authorization by a provider’s order and the delegation and clinical direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
• Provides support to the care team for daily health care operations.
• Communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team.
• Addresses the ongoing needs of patients, working with the members of the larger health care team, and promotes the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Qualifications

• Current California State License as a Psychiatric Technician (PT) (Safety).
• Completion of a recognized training program in psychiatric technician practice.
• One year of experience in a correctional setting or related field.
• Knowledge of mental health principles and practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting and moving patients.
