PSYCHIATRIC TECHNICIAN (SAFETY)
About the role
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for multiple Permanent, Full-Time Psychiatric Technician (Safety) positions.
Responsibilities
- Assigned to unit medication rooms on a 12-hour schedule.
- Shifts based on operational need.
- Work under general supervision.
- Provide a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care.
- Facilitate the rehabilitation of clients/patients through attitude, knowledge, and performance.
- Maintain order and supervise the conduct of clients/patients.
- Protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.
- Provide a basic level of general behavioral psychiatric nursing care to clients/patients who are mentally disordered offenders.
- Participate in the overall psychiatric treatment program.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician in the State of California.
- Pass a Drug Screening prior to being hired.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications of the classification: Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician in the State of California. The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.

Successful candidates should possess the ability to learn and apply sound judgment, including emergency situations, for the protection of persons and property; apply basic nursing knowledge, skills and attitudes; establish effective therapeutic relationships with mentally disordered clients/patients; recognize symptoms requiring medical or psychiatric attention; think and act quickly in emergencies; work with a treatment team to provide occupational, recreational, vocational, and educational therapy programs for clients/patients; follow directions; keep appropriate records; develop clear and concise reports of incidents; analyze situations accurately and take effective action.
