Psychiatric Technician

Facility: Douglas County Correctional Center, Omaha, NE – Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)

About the role

As a Psychiatric Technician, you'll work as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team, providing therapeutic support and supervision to patients participating in mental health programs. You'll help create a safe, structured therapeutic environment for individuals with mental health and developmental needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate therapeutic activities designed to support treatment goals and patient progress
• Provide direct supervision, support, and instruction to patients within behavioral health programs and housing units
• Observe patient behavior, evaluate participation, and communicate concerns or recommendations to the treatment team
• Maintain accurate clinical and administrative documentation while supporting quality improvement initiatives
• Assist with program operations, including supplies, equipment, and medication area organization
• Collaborate with behavioral health staff to promote patient stability, safety, and recovery

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
• Current CPR certification
• One (1) year of Psychiatric Technician experience preferred
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred
