Psychiatric Technician
About the role
The Mental Health Center is certified to provide mental health and substance use inpatient treatment services and maintains a close working relationship with Waukesha Memorial Hospital and other community agencies and partners.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized care to community members working towards bettering their mental health.
- Contribute to society and Waukesha County by providing meaningful participation of consumers and their recovery teams (families or other chosen support systems).
- Empower consumers to lead their recovery journey by building skills and efficiently utilizing available resources, including natural supports, to achieve positive recovery outcomes.
- Maintain a high percentage of time with patients delivering specialized care.
- Master new clinical skills through ongoing training and personal and professional development.
- Be creative and suggest new paths to patients.
Requirements
- High school graduation or GED equivalent.
- Two years of recognized post high school education with at least two courses in psychology, sociology, or social work.
- Six months of patient care experience in a mental health setting or a residential treatment center for mentally ill or developmentally disabled or related area.
- Completion of two semesters of clinical education as a nursing student in a recognized nursing education program.
- Possession of a valid State of Wisconsin CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment options.

This opportunity will provide you with a full-time PM shift position working 3:00pm - 11:30pm.
