About the Role

Psychiatric Social Worker (SR33) at Oregon State Hospital in Salem, providing clinical interventions and services in an inpatient psychiatric setting. This role supports patient recovery through comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and collaboration on discharge planning. A 5% license differential is provided for LCSW holders per the SEIU union contract. Clinical supervision is available for CSWA holders working toward licensure.

This is an in-office position working daily with individuals exhibiting active symptoms of mental illness, who may display significant physical aggression.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing strength-based assessments from a trauma-informed lens, including psychosocial assessments, annual updates, and readiness-to-transition assessments.
• Prepare written social work reports for Risk Review, the Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB), and other partner agencies.
• Provide compassionate weekly or monthly services to patients on your caseload, monitor progress toward social work interventions, and update treatment care plans as needed.
• Work within an interdisciplinary team to assess hospital-level care needs and readiness for transition from OSH.
• Prepare for and participate in court hearings, including testifying as requested.
• Facilitate recovery-oriented and skill-building groups based on patients' clinical needs as defined in treatment care plans.
• Develop discharge and continuity-of-care plans tailored to patients' service needs, preferences, and available community resources.
• Utilize technology-based medical records systems and standard MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) to perform standardized care.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW).
• Current Oregon Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license, or current Certified Social Work Associate (CSWA) license, or verification of application submission to the Oregon Board of Social Work (OBSW) by date of appointment.
• Criminal records and driving records check meeting OHA criteria at time of hire and throughout employment.
• Authorization to work in the United States; agency does not offer visa sponsorship.

Pay

$7,968 – $11,140 per month. The listed salary range is for non-PERS qualifying candidates; PERS-qualifying candidates receive an additional 6.95%.
