About the role

Psychiatric Social Worker (SR33) at Oregon State Hospital in Salem. This is a full-time, permanent, SEIU-represented position working in-office daily with individuals who have active symptoms of mental illness and may exhibit significant physical aggression.

The Social Work Department provides a 5% license differential for LCSW holders as outlined in the SEIU union contract and offers clinical supervision to CSWA (Clinical Social Work Associate) holders working toward licensure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing strength-based, trauma-informed assessments, including psychosocial assessments, annual updates, and readiness-to-transition evaluations.
• Prepare written social work reports for Risk Review, the Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB), and other partner agencies.
• Provide compassionate weekly or monthly services to each patient on your caseload, monitor progress toward Social Work Interventions, and update treatment care plans as indicated.
• Work within a unit Interdisciplinary Team to assess need for hospital-level care and readiness for transition from OSH.
• Prepare for and participate in court hearings; testify as requested.
• Conduct recovery-oriented and skill-building groups based on patients’ clinical needs as defined in the treatment care plan.
• Provide discharge and continuity-of-care planning for each patient based on service needs, preferences, and available community resources.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW).
• Current Oregon Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license, or current Certified Social Work Associate (CSWA) license, or verification of application submission to the Oregon Board of Social Work (OBSW) by date of appointment.
• Criminal records and driving records check that meets OHA criteria at time of hire and throughout employment.
• Authorization to work in the United States; agency does not offer visa sponsorship.

Pay

Salary range: $7,968 – $11,140 per month. The listed range is the non-PERS qualifying salary; if the successful candidate is PERS-qualifying, the range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
