About the role
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMNP) position involves providing initial and follow-up psychiatric consultations in select assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. Patient encounters range from 11 to 16 per day, primarily focusing on initial and follow-up progress notes rather than detailed medical histories or treatment plans. The role offers minimal bureaucracy and busy work, with streamlined note templates facilitating an efficient workflow. Clinicians perform similar duties, leading to streamlined processes and a pleasant work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide initial and follow-up psychiatric consultations in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities
- Document progress notes using streamlined templates
- Participate in a telephone-based on-call schedule with infrequent phone calls
- Work flexible hours with autonomy and support from three psychiatrists and colleagues
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications (preferred but trainable)
Requirements
- MD or APRN license
- MD DEA and AANP certification (PMHNP preferred in NJ)
- Active and unrestricted license
- Effective oral and written communication in English
- Basic proficiency with technology, including EHRs
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to provide in-person services at assigned facilities
- Ability to walk, stand, and move between patient rooms and offices throughout the day
