The company is led by Dr. Unnati Patel, a board-certified Adult Psychiatrist who joined in 2014 after serving as the Director of the Psychiatry Consultation service at RWJ Somerset Medical Center for five years.

About the Role

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMNP) position involves providing initial and follow-up psychiatric consultations in select assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. Patient encounters range from 11 to 16 per day, primarily focusing on initial and follow-up progress notes rather than detailed medical histories or treatment plans. The role offers minimal bureaucracy and busy work, with streamlined note templates facilitating an efficient workflow. Clinicians perform similar duties, leading to streamlined processes designed for efficiency and ease.

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial and follow-up psychiatric consultations in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities
  • Document progress notes for initial and follow-up visits
  • Participate in a telephone-based on-call schedule consisting of about 1 weeknight in 7 and less than one weekend/month
  • Work flexible hours with autonomy and independence, supported by three psychiatrists and colleagues
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications (preferred but trainable)
  • Manage daily work schedule and provide in-person services at assigned facilities

Requirements

  • MD or APRN license
  • MD DEA and AANP certification (PMHNP required in PA, ideal in NJ; Family & Geriatric acceptable in NJ)
  • Active and unrestricted license
  • Effective oral and written communication in English
  • Basic proficiency with technology, including EHR systems
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to regulatory compliance
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move between patient rooms and offices throughout the day
