About the Role
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a full-time, on-site role based between offices in Kalona and Washington, IA, providing direct psychiatric and mental health care to clients across the lifespan.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop and adjust treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in coordination with counseling services.
- Collaborate closely with therapists, primary care providers, and other wellness specialists to ensure integrated, person-centered care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Participate in regular case consultation and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Contribute to a supportive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive environment.
- Educate clients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies to support long-term recovery and resilience.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Mental Health Nursing and Psychiatric Care, with the ability to provide safe, evidence-based treatment for a variety of mental health conditions.
- Experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner, including assessment, diagnosis, and medication management within a collaborative care model.
- Active or eligible Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in Iowa, with appropriate psychiatric certification (e.g., PMHNP).
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and families in outpatient or community mental health settings is highly beneficial.
