Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Part-time role (4-5 days per week) performed on-site, with a pay rate of $70.00 to $80.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric assessments, ongoing medication monitoring, and discharge assessments for all clients under the direction of the Medical Director or while acting as the Medical Director, including meeting state regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
• Coordinate and integrate medical/nursing services with other client care services to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in team conferences with the multidisciplinary team and the client care committee.
• Attend and participate in all in-service functions.
• Assist with emergency situations and make immediate referrals.
• Maintain confidentiality of all clients and facility activities.
• Communicate concerns about client health to the Medical Director/Director of Nursing and follow up as needed.
• Facilitate medication education for new clients and those starting new medications.
• Collaborate with therapists to provide information about client psychiatric/medical problems.
• Assist the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning.
• Participate in regular department and staff meetings.
• Maintain effective communication between outside medical services and the facility.
• Keep and share records and equipment.
• Participate in Performance Improvement, Utilization Review, Fire & Disaster Committees, and others as requested.
• Maintain up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other mandated areas.
• Provide prompt on-call telephone coverage when scheduled, including responsiveness to nursing for medical, psychiatric, or detox orders during on-call hours.
• Work with the nursing leadership team to establish protocols for issues that can be handled without on-call contacts.
• Collaborate closely with the Medical Director and Nursing Director to ensure all relevant protocols are followed.
• Perform other assignments as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited/approved Registered Nursing program.
• Licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse, with current licensure per state requirements.
• Maintain current CPR certification.
• Minimum of one year’s experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in a program managing addictions or behavioral health issues (preferred).
• Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
• Proficiency in communication and written skills.
• Experience managing staff.
• Knowledge of State & Federal statutes regarding patient confidentiality laws.
• Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies, Workplace Violence, Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program, and Safety/Infection/Risk Management.
