About the role

We are Hiring! Catholic Charities is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our outpatient Behavioral Health department in Rochester, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive clinical assessment including medical and psychiatric histories, mental status exams, and diagnoses.
  • Performs and/or obtains laboratory data and diagnostic tests as needed.
  • Makes and manages prescriptions for psychotropic medications, educates clients about their medications, and provides supportive psychotherapy.
  • Facilitates and participates in collateral meetings to enhance client support.
  • Provides clinical consultation to mental health clinicians and nurses.
  • Offers in-service training to clinical staff related to clinical care and psychopharmacology.
  • Maintains regular communications with team members and other providers to ensure coordinated services.
  • Establishes protocols for new health monitoring individual and group services.
  • Makes appropriate referrals and recommendations for services not offered within the facility based on psychiatric assessments.
  • Participates in team meetings and case reviews.
  • Maintains case records and statistical data required for billing, quality assurance, client satisfaction, and other program evaluations.
  • Completes all required clinical documentation on the same day of visit or within 24 hours.
  • Maintains 100% compliance with regulatory and agency documentation standards.
  • Manages workload to accept new clients for evaluation in a timely manner.
  • Maintains compliance with all New York State regulations, laws, and other requirements of accreditation and/or licensing authorities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • New York State certification as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License.
  • Three years of clinical experience related to nursing services to individuals with mental health or alcoholism, substance abuse related services preferred.
