Psychiatric/DD Nurse Full Time 15% Recruitment Supplement And 10% Supplement for 2nd shift

Duties

  • Performs general nursing and psychiatric care, including the administration of physician ordered medication and treatments.
  • Affords assistance in physical examinations.
  • Collects and records vital signs.
  • Documents in the medical record the administration of medication and treatments and other pertinent observations.
  • Monitors and records client behavior and psychiatric symptoms.
  • Assists in feeding, grooming, and self-care.
  • Evaluates client and staff injuries and administers and records first aid as needed.
  • Responds to medical emergencies to administer life-saving measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating with the client's physician to complete a functional client health needs assessment and nursing plan of care.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates client self-medication programs.
  • Provides health teaching to family and clients as indicated.
  • Assists in orienting and training new nursing employees.
  • Conducts and participates in In-Service training sessions.
  • Provides clinical oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses assigned during the same working hours.
  • Completes nursing department shift reports of client health conditions to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Special Experience

  • Knowledge of professional nursing procedures; psychiatric or developmentally disabled nursing; employee training & development; state & federal regulations, policies & procedures as related to nursing; public relations; counseling.
  • Skills in operation of medical equipment.
  • Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; write meaningful, concise & accurate reports; demonstrates physical fitness.
