Duties
- Performs general nursing and psychiatric care, including administering medication and treatments.
- Aids in physical examinations and records vital signs.
- Documents medication and treatment administration and other pertinent observations.
- Evaluates client behavior and psychiatric symptoms.
- Assists with feeding, grooming, and self-care.
- Responds to medical emergencies to provide first aid and administer life-saving measures.
- Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating with physicians on client health assessments and care plans.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates client self-medication programs.
- Provides health education to family members and clients.
- Assists in training new nursing employees.
- Conducts and participates in in-service training sessions.
- Provides clinical oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Completes nursing department shift reports to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Special Experience
- Knowledge of professional nursing procedures, psychiatric or developmental disabled nursing, employee training & development, state & federal regulations, policies & procedures as related to nursing, public relations, counseling.
- Skills in operating medical equipment.
- Ability to handle abstract and concrete variables, write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports, and demonstrate physical fitness.
- Current RN license in Ohio as issued by the Board of Nursing.
