Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing and psychiatric care to residents and direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN).
• Assess health care needs of residents, initiate and direct implementation of nursing treatment plans to meet established goals.
• Integrate nursing goals into interprofessional practice (IPP).
• Monitor health and safety status of residents on assigned shift.
• Assist in emergencies (e.g., first aid, CPR, psychotropic emergencies) and record/report unusual behaviors or conditions to physicians, supervisors, and appropriate personnel.
• Implement physician’s orders and assist with medical procedures as necessary.
• Ensure medication and treatment are administered according to policy, including actual medication administration.
• Provide professional judgment and intervention as needed; monitor residents requiring acute care.
• Ensure proper maintenance and security of the night drug cupboard.
• Assume primary nursing responsibility for assigned residents, including nursing treatment planning, verification and review of physician orders, chart audits, self-medication plans, human sexuality programs, medication administration, infection control, physical assessments, and health care-related scenario programs.
• Participate in related meetings as required by the supervisor.
• Communicate medical information to parents/guardians when appropriate.
• Monitor health care charts on cottages to ensure proper follow-up and continuity of care.
• Maintain records of all activities and submit reports to the supervisor, including IPP input, chart audits, psychotropic medication reviews, self-medication inputs, and physical assessments.
• Perform related duties as required by the supervisor.
• Mandatory overtime is required for this position.

Requirements

• Current license as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio, issued by the Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of the Revised Code.

Pay

$36.01 per hour with the first increase in 180 days to $37.75.

• Additional $1.50 per hour shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts.
• Additional $3.60 per hour for assigned 2nd and 3rd shifts.
• Hourly recruitment supplement of $5.40 per hour.
• Annual increases each year with an additional longevity supplement after 5 years of service.

Schedule

Full-time. Mandatory overtime is required.
