About the role
The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker (PRW) provides mobile, community-based psychiatric rehabilitation services to adults with serious mental health conditions who are high utilizers of inpatient psychiatric services. This role is ideal for compassionate, mission-driven professionals who want to make a meaningful impact by helping individuals build skills, confidence, and independence to successfully live and thrive in the community.
Responsibilities
- Promote principles of recovery-oriented and psychiatric rehabilitation services
- Support participants in developing and working toward individualized recovery and wellness goals
- Provide skills training in daily living, self-advocacy, symptom management, and community integration
- Utilize motivational interviewing to identify strengths, needs, goals, and barriers
- Aid participants in accessing and navigating mental health, substance use, and social service systems
- Support connections to natural supports, including peer recovery groups and community resources
- Schedule and attend appointments as needed
- Advocate for participants’ medical, behavioral health, legal, and community needs
- Bridge gaps between physical health care and behavioral health treatment
- Participate in treatment team and aftercare meetings as requested
- Provide crisis management support and recovery-focused interventions
- Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to meet participant needs
- Document services and complete billing using electronic health record systems
- Provide telephonic support to participants and family members as appropriate
- Complete additional duties as assigned by program leadership
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED: 3 years of mental health experience required
- Associate’s Degree: 1 year of mental health experience required
- Bachelor’s Degree: 1 year of mental health experience preferred
- C.P.R.P. certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to work independently in community-based settings
- Clearances Required: Act 33/34 Clearances, FBI clearance (as required), Child Abuse Clearance
