About the role
This program is currently looking to fill 1 opening for an APC/APP position for someone who is interested in developing and expanding their medical expertise on top of their license(s). This would be filled by either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Structured clinical training, progressive procedural experience, and comprehensive didactic education aligned with the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) APP Core Curriculum.
- Work closely with experienced interventional radiologists, and APC/APPs to develop expertise in image-guided procedures, peri-procedural patient management, and complex clinical decision-making.
- During the first year, focus on foundational IR skills through core clinical rotations, supervised procedural training, and structured didactics.
- In the second year, transition into an Instructor-level role, gaining greater clinical independence while expanding experience through advanced rotations in areas such as oncology, hepatology, vascular disease, and surgery.
- Prepare graduates to practice independently as Interventional Radiology APC/APPs in both academic and community environments, equipped with the procedural competency, clinical judgment, and leadership skills required in this rapidly evolving specialty.
- Receive a certificate from the University of Utah School of Medicine confirming successful completion of all curriculum requirements and satisfactory achievement of the program's core competencies.
- Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible for credentialing in multiple interventional radiology procedures after demonstrating technical proficiency and the ability to recognize and manage potential complications.
Qualifications
- Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
- Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
- Utah State prescriptive privileges.
- Preferred Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
- Active certification in BLS/ACLS.
- Prescriptive authority within the state of Utah.

- Year 1: Salary of $85,000 with full fellowship benefits, including health insurance coverage, paid time off and a very competitive benefits package.
- Year 2: Compensation dependent upon any experience prior to enrollment into the IR APC/APP Fellowship.
