Responsibilities
- Climbing: Enter trees (10 to 150 feet) via safe climbing practices under WC-CTW, ISA, and ANSI Z133.1 guidelines.
- Pruning: Prune young and mature trees using ISA and ANSI Z133.1 pruning standards, as well as Disney Show quality standards.
- Young Tree Care:
- Planting: Plant 15-gallon, 24-inch box trees using ISA and ANSI Z133.1 standards.
- Transplanting: Box up to a 24-inch root ball, shovel, strap, bend, push/pull, and lift (25-100 lbs).
- Staking New Trees: Stake, use ladder, stake pounder, and other staking tools.
- Inventoriable Maintenance and Inspection: Tag, inspect trees, record data in field and on Access Database Inventory Program.
- Mature Tree Care:
- Cabling and Bracing: Familiar with hardware and ISA/ANSI Z133.1 installation guidelines.
- Rigging: Proficient in rigging operations under ISA/ANSI Z133.1 standards.
- Removals: Safely remove trees (10-150 feet) using specified tools.
- Groundwork: Secure work area, provide ground assistance, remove and load debris, reduce debris size with a chainsaw, and safely operate a chipper under ISA/ANSI Z133.1 standards.
- Emergencies: Handle and react to stressful emergency situations within the tree crew, as well as other possible Cast Member or Guest needs.
Qualifications
- Schedule Availability: Open to any shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) including holidays, with any combination of days off.
- Experience: Must have experience performing the duties and actions listed under Responsibilities, above.
- License: Valid California Driver’s License.
- Certification: Western Chapter Certified Tree Worker (WC-CTW) certification or equivalent ability.
- Age: At least 18 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
- Western Chapter Certified Tree Worker (WC-CTW) certification.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
Pay and Benefits
The pay rate for this role in California is $31.51 to $38.37 per hour, following the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
