Provider Recruiter
About the role
The Provider Recruiter coordinates and implements the provider recruiting process for all permanent physicians, advanced practice providers (APP), and locum searches within Carle. This position is responsible for meeting the organization’s recruitment and strategic initiative goals, working closely with candidates and Carle leadership. The role involves active involvement in the recruitment process for all levels of providers—permanent physicians, APPs, and locum—from the time a position is opened through the successful placement of a provider.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, Marketing, or Healthcare Administration.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
- Previous experience in recruiting, marketing, personnel, or related activities preferred.
- Understanding of the healthcare and medical environment is helpful.
- Some computer experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manages all aspects of the provider recruitment process from early contact with prospective leaders and physicians through hiring.
- Follows the organization’s recruitment policies and procedures, performing all recruiting activities within legal, economic, and political considerations.
- Acts as a consultant to dyad leadership on provider skill mix and requirements, providing guidance throughout the recruitment process.
- Utilizes critical thinking and strategy to present Carle as a world-class healthcare organization, showcase the community, and assess candidate fit within Carle’s culture and department.
- Plans, develops, and directs strategic provider recruitment strategies in alignment with organizational needs and goals.
- Develops improvements to staffing processes, such as sourcing and selection, and makes recommendations on recruitment strategies.
- Attends team meetings, departmental meetings, committees, Medical Group physician meetings, and other meetings as needed.
- Recommends, coordinates, and attends recruitment dinners, meetings, and events.
- Attends professional and local community events to ensure visibility and up-to-date knowledge.
- Conducts telephone interviews using excellent listening and questioning skills to build applicant interest and determine candidate fit.
- Writes summaries of candidate information not documented in resumes/CVs and presents them to leadership for consideration.
- Acts as a liaison between candidates, leadership, and community stakeholders (e.g., administrators, referring physicians, realtors, school administrators, potential employers for spouses/significant others).
- Works closely with leadership to evaluate candidates and make hiring recommendations based on organizational fit.
- Collaborates with leadership to determine candidate needs and vacancies, outlining recruitment opportunities for proactive strategy development.
- Attends recruitment meetings to provide updates on current activity and strategize on hard-to-recruit-for positions.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of the provider candidate pool and national trends affecting healthcare organizations.
- Identifies marketing development opportunities based on candidate quality and recognizes locations/specialties that are difficult to recruit.
- Coordinates with recruitment staff to develop and implement sourcing plans aligned with recruitment strategies.
- Maintains accurate tracking of opportunities and candidate status through applicant tracking systems and tools.
- Organizes and participates in conventions, specialty meetings, and job fairs for provider recruitment, with some travel required.
- Engages operations and leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate site visits and candidate interviews.
- Receives feedback and identifies opportunities to improve and streamline processes.
- Exhibits executive presence through energy, enthusiasm, and courage, building credibility and trust through visibility and effective communication.

Pay
The compensation range for this position is $33.38 per hour to $57.41 per hour. The actual compensation offered will depend on factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
