About the role
The Provider Onboarding and Retention Coordinator facilitates a seamless end-to-end onboarding and retention experience for new physicians and providers. This role serves as a resource and guide to both candidates and Medical Staff leaders in the requisition, recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, retention, and off-boarding processes. The Coordinator supports new providers throughout their first year of employment to promote a positive employee experience.
This position works under the general direction of the Director of Physician Recruitment and in collaboration with the VP of Operations for the Medical Group.
Responsibilities
- Assess and identify staffing requirements in collaboration with the Director of Operations, present new position requests to senior Medical Group leadership, and facilitate strategic staffing decisions that support operational efficiency and patient care objectives.
- Manage and oversee the requisition process for new and replacement provider positions, ensuring effective creation and management of job postings using the applicant tracking system.
- Oversee the candidate onboarding process, including payor credentialing, medical staff credentialing, human resources documentation, orientation sessions, employee health appointments, and first-day procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the MVHS Medical Staff Office (MSO) to manage and organize credentialing information for new physician credentialing files, presenting this information to relevant stakeholders.
- Systematically manage onboarding and off-boarding documentation, ensuring files are up-to-date and workflows are efficient.
- Develop tailored onboarding schedules in collaboration with the Director of Operations, Medical Directors, and practice managers to facilitate smooth integration for new providers.
- Communicate with incoming providers regarding their onboarding status, providing updates on outstanding items and serving as a support resource.
- Assist providers and their families in acclimating to MVHS and the Utica community, scheduling regular check-ins to monitor integration and address concerns.
- Follow up with new hires to assess satisfaction with the onboarding process and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Five years of related experience, including one year of healthcare experience.
- Excellent project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, and follow through.
- Excellent communication skills, including marketing, persuasion, and negotiation.
- Ability to establish rapport with physicians and build effective ongoing relationships with practicing physicians and administrators.
- Strong written communication skills for preparing clear, concise, and grammatically correct documents.
- Very strong customer service orientation, positive attitude, highly self-motivated, and change-oriented.
- Advanced proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, database management, and presentation software.
Pay
$22.00 - $35.00 per hour
Schedule
- Full-time, non-union position.
- Day shift with 8-hour workdays.
