About the Role
The Prototype Assembler II performs electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical assembly and rework to support engineering development, prototype evaluation, and low-volume product builds.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and rework PCBs, cable harnesses, evaluation kits, and prototype hardware following drawings, BOMs, and engineering guidance.
- Conduct SMT and through-hole soldering, perform rework, and support product modifications.
- Inspect work, maintain documentation, and ensure adherence to ESD, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Support troubleshooting, communicate issues, and collaborate with engineers and team members to meet project goals.
- Maintain organized work areas and adapt to changing priorities across multiple projects.
Requirements
- At least two years of electronic assembly experience or technical training.
- Proficiency in SMT and through-hole soldering, use of assembly tools, and reading schematics/drawings.
- Experience with PCB rework, handling small components (including 0402, 0201), and supporting engineering teams.
- Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of ESD handling, safety procedures, and working in laboratory or manufacturing environments.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Environment
The role operates in a professional lab and office setting, involving physical tasks such as standing, lifting up to 20 pounds, and working with electronic components.
