Position Overview
Essential Job Function
- Arcing and coordinating base-wide tours, including itineraries and transportation, for distinguished visits (i.e., Congressional staff, USCG Flag Officers, DHS Staff, other governmental agencies, etc.).
- Leading specialized tours of ALC for visiting groups (i.e., civic organizations, government representatives, schools, and other designated groups).
- Greeting arriving aircraft.
- Arranging for transportation for visitors.
- Escorting guests throughout the base complex.
- Managing and coordinating visitor itineraries.
- Setting up and operating audio/visual equipment for meetings.
- Managing and coordinating the schedule for the Commanding Officer’s Conference Rooms.
- Maintaining and updating weekly briefing materials.
- Keeping the Command Brief (ALC101) current and accurate.
- Regularly attending meetings as required.
- Planning and managing ceremonies, including retirements, promotions, awards, and other events.
- Holding invitations, scripts, speeches, and programs.
- Organizing and assisting in hosting social functions for the Wardroom (Officers).
- Coordinating the recognition program for Enlisted Person of the Quarter, working with USCG Public Affairs, and local media.
- Assisting the CG-AIR Commanding Officer’s Secretary.
- Assisting with other ALC and Command Administrative duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen
- Read, write, speak, and comprehend English
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
- Ability to work with minimal Government oversight
- Obtain Military/DoW Protocol Specialist certification (from the Protocol School of Washington) within 12 months of hire; proof of certification required upon completion
- At least 2 years' experience in protocol and event planning, including applying protocol and etiquette to organize events, coordinate ceremonies, and manage receptions for dignitaries, military and civilian representatives, and high-ranking officials
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year experience in USCG procedures
- Proficiency in ALMIS
- Proficiency in AMMIS
