Responsibilities
- Design projects working directly with clients to develop project scope, identify problems, and propose solutions.
- Create Protection and Control drawings and documentations such as relay one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, I/O lists, relay settings, configuration files, and other supporting documentation.
- Prepare panel construction specifications including panel and interconnect wiring as well as panel layouts and elevations.
- Evaluate the interoperability, control features, and communication/protocol aspects of protective relays, RTU’s, LTC Controllers, and other equipment.
- Perform power system load flow studies, fault studies, and relay setting coordination.
- Aid in commissioning as needed during system startups and functional checks.
- Participate in business development activities.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in protection and control system design, cost estimating, and bidding document preparation for electrical transmission and distribution substations projects.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license from a US State is desired but not required.
- Successful track record designing Protection and Control Systems.
- Knowledge of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), NERC, NEC, NESC, NEMA, and ANSI standards.
- Experience with telecommunications, protective relaying, and automation (SCADA).
- Interest in low voltage coordination and arc flash studies.
- Familiarity with Schweitzer Engineering, General Electric, and Basler equipment.
Qualifications
Typical qualifications include:
