Responsibilities

Design projects working directly with clients to develop project scope, identify problems, and propose solutions. Typical requirements include Protection and Control drawings and documentations (relay one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, I/O lists, and relay settings, configuration files and etc), panel construction specifications (panel and interconnect wiring as well as panel layouts and elevations), and other supporting documentation.

Comfortable evaluating the interoperability, control features, and communication/protocol aspects of protective relays, RTU's, LTC Controllers, and other equipment as well as perform power system load flow studies, fault studies, relay setting coordination. Aid in commissioning as needed pertaining to system startups and functional checks.

Requirements

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • 5 or more years of experience in protection and control system design, cost estimating, and bidding document preparation for electrical transmission and distribution substations projects.
  • A PE license from a US State is desired but not required.
  • Successful track record designing Protection and Control Systems.
  • Knowledge of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), NERC, NEC, NESC, NEMA, and ANSI standards are used in designing substation is critical.
  • Experience with telecommunications, protective relaying, and automation (SCADA) is required.
  • Interest in low voltage coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Familiarity with Schweitzer Engineering, General Electric and Basler equipment.
