Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians to evaluate and recommend prosthetic and/or orthotic services based on patient needs.
• Evaluate patient needs and formulate design plans for prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
• Select appropriate materials, take measurements, and perform fittings to ensure optimal patient fit and functionality.
• Instruct patients on the proper use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices and provide follow-up care.
• Evaluate and address issues to ensure patient satisfaction with the devices provided.
• Communicate with physicians, case managers, and referral sources to discuss prosthetic and/or orthotic services and capabilities.
• Create and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets in collaboration with management.
• Document clinical notes in patient records and provide in-service training to healthcare professionals.
• Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians as needed.
• Assist other clinical staff and provide information to administrative staff for reimbursement activities.
• Avoid violations of safety regulations, comply with Medicare and other governmental regulations, and adhere to bloodborne and OSHA requirements.
• Perform on-call, hospital calls, or float between multiple clinics as required.

Requirements

• Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC).
• Board-eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics.
• A baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics, or the foreign equivalent.
• A valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s standards.
• The ability to obtain and maintain state licensure in states where required.
• Experience in one discipline with the potential to complete residency in the other.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated past experience in providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under the supervision of a certified clinician.

• Knowledge of componentry and its suitability and reliability for specific uses.
• Effective communication skills for accurate, concise, and organized oral and written presentations and reports.
• Ability to assess patient conditions and advise physicians on treatment options.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build professional relationships with physicians, therapists, and patients.
• Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.
