Prosthetist and/or Orthotist Clinician (CPO, CO)

About the role

This opportunity in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, offers a diverse caseload with a strong pediatric focus, including cranial remolding. Join a supportive team with full lab capabilities and technician support, and enjoy minimal on-call responsibilities and a flexible schedule with every other Friday off.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians in evaluating and recommending prosthetic and orthotic services based on patient needs.
• Evaluate and formulate design of prosthetic and orthotic devices, selecting appropriate materials and components.
• Perform fitting procedures, ensuring proper alignment and functionality of devices.
• Instruct patients on the use and maintenance of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
• Evaluate and address issues related to patient satisfaction with their devices.
• Provide follow-up care and communicate with physicians regarding patient progress.
• Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians in the field.
• Participate in various administrative tasks, including reimbursement activities and in-service training.

Requirements

• Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC).
• A baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics, or the foreign equivalent.
• A valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Hanger’s standards.
• The ability to obtain and maintain state licensure in states where required.

• Thorough understanding of biomechanics, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Knowledge of componentry and its suitability for specific uses.
• Effective communication skills for presenting and reporting patient care services.
• Ability to assess patient conditions and advise physicians on treatment options.
• Good interpersonal skills for building professional relationships with colleagues and patients.
• Organizational and time management skills for managing daily tasks and responsibilities.
