Prospect Research Manager
About the Role
The Manager, Prospect Research & Analytics provides donor and organization prospect research and analytics services to all regional health ministries (RHMs) across Trinity Health. This role partners in system-wide initiatives such as Blackbaud Target Analytics, institutional market analysis, and wealth screening. The position analyzes donor giving patterns, trends, and preferences, performs in-depth prospect research, and proactively identifies and researches prospects to determine capacity and inclination to give. Responsibilities include maintaining prospect research data in Trinity Health’s shared donor data management system and developing prospect research reports and dashboards to support fundraising efforts.
This role interacts and collaborates with Regional Health Ministry (RHM) Foundation and Development Office colleagues to facilitate effective cultivation and solicitation of Annual, Major, Planned, and Principal Gift prospects. The Manager also presents job aids and training sessions to keep Trinity Health Philanthropy colleagues informed of market capacity, opportunities, and best practices for data-driven fundraising strategies.
Responsibilities
- Uses advanced research skills and a variety of organizational and financial sources (online databases, library and government websites, and other public information) to collect, analyze, qualify, and disseminate information related to financial capacity and philanthropic tendencies of individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Maintains and updates prospect records in Trinity Health Philanthropy’s shared national database in a timely manner.
- Designs, develops, and produces custom reports, ad-hoc queries, and data exports to support Prospect Research, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Collaborates with RHMs and System Office team members to fulfill research requests.
- Demonstrates proficiency in software and tools used in prospect research, adopting and maintaining best practices.
- Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships, providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Incorporates Trinity Health’s mission, vision, and values into leadership behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Adheres to the Code of Professional Fundraising Ethics, Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) Code of Ethics, and the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Donor's Bill of Rights, as well as Trinity Health’s Code of Conduct.
- Maintains confidentiality of wealth screening processes and results for donors and prospects.
- Stays current with HIPAA and fundraising regulations, ensuring compliance with all Protected Health Information (PHI) confidentiality requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Degree in Information Science, Library Science, or a related field is preferred.
- At least three (3) years of experience in Fundraising Operations, specifically Prospect Research, is required. A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a frontline fundraiser and a solid understanding of the donor solicitation cycle (Identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship) is also required. Healthcare or Higher Education fundraising experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in industry-standard data analytics and research tools, such as ResearchPoint, Lexis Nexis, CoreLogic, Larkspur, Hoovers, Guidestar, NOZA Search, Dun and Bradstreet Credibility Corp, Marquis Who’sWho, Refinitiv, Experian, ProPublica, Candid (formerly Foundation Directory Online), and various county deeds and public websites.
- Proficiency in donor databases and Microsoft applications. Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and Blackbaud CRM is preferred.
- Ability to independently perform and produce large-scale data mining, wealth screening, target analytics, and predictive statistical data models, presenting findings in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
