About the role

The Prosecution Division investigates and prosecutes violations of the New York City Administrative Code and TLC Rules arising from administrative, field, and consumer-initiated complaints. Attorneys handle a diverse and challenging caseload involving reckless driving, unlicensed operation, illegal street hails, harassment, leaving the scene of an accident, fraud, consumer protection, and other matters affecting public safety. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for attorneys particularly those beginning their litigation careers to develop substantial courtroom advocacy experience from the outset. Prosecuting Attorneys manage their own caseloads, regularly appear before Administrative Law Judges at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH), examine witnesses, introduce evidence, negotiate settlements, draft legal pleadings and appeals, and make independent prosecutorial recommendations under the guidance of experienced supervisors. Through rotations in Consumer Intake, Settlements, Hearings, Appeals, and specialized enforcement assignments, attorneys gain broad, practical litigation experience and develop the advocacy, negotiation, and legal writing skills that serve as a strong foundation for a successful legal career.
