Propulsion Technician 2

Responsibilities

• Perform rocket motor build up/tear down maintenance activities that entails instrumentation, ignition system, and mechanical systems removal/installations
• Inspect, dismantles, adjusts, overhauls, repairs, fabricates, and assembles applicable Spaceship flight hardware/propulsion system components and/or assemblies in support of flight operations and associated ground test events
• Supports training program definition with direct input of hands-on knowledge from the propulsion system via different mediums as appropriate
• Completes and signs-off work records in connection with work performed
• Affixes to operational procedures for propellant/cryogens/pressurized gases loading
• Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, conducting regular inspections and risk assessments, and implementation of PPE to maintain a safe working environment
• Works collaboratively to achieve goals and/or complete assigned tasks
• Adheres to set directions and guidelines from team leader to support collaboration across teams to complete projects
• Continuously practices safety behavior and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness/prevention; adheres to regulatory protocols and rules

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience working with high pressure fluids & gaseous systems
• Must be familiar with procedures applicable to the various phases of maintenance
• Must be able to drive heavy equipment and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License
• Must be able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to travel to different company sites in support of training and/or operations
• Must be able to pass the background check to obtain a US airport AOA and/or NMSA spaceport badge
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must demonstrate willingness to adjust thinking and behavior
• Must be able to communicate in a manner that is timely, respectful, and open to other ideas
• Must have strong safety forward thinking, practice good housekeeping, tool control, recognize the importance of properly handling hazardous materials and chemicals
• Must be able to work in extreme environments (low/high temperatures, windy, noisy)
• Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed
• Must be able to stand for extended periods – 9 hours minimum
• Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces – 3 hours minimum
• Must be able to handle items weighing up to 50 pounds (unassisted)

Qualifications

• Graduated from a technical college or other recognized apprenticeship
• Experience with rocket systems and associated solid, liquid propellants and cryogens
• Experience with composite structures (commercial or military aerospace applications)
• Commercial Driver’s License
• Forklift operator
• FAA approved Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P License)

Benefits

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $44,554.00–$60,996.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
