About the role
Great proposals are essential to our success at Burns & McDonnell. We are seeking an experienced strategist to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Lead proposal efforts in collaboration with marketing, pursuit, and project management leadership to develop quality Statement of Qualifications, Proposals, Capacity Statements, and marketing materials.
- Manage proposal development efforts from initial capture through shortlist interview, including development and documentation of proposal management plans, compliance matrices, draft storyboards; proposal outlines, proposal/win themes, proposal team assignments and data call requests; and shortlist interview presentations and leave-behinds.
- Work collaboratively with project management, technical and proposal teams to support and manage the development of marketing and pursuit materials under tight deadlines.
- Write and edit proposal content and participate in proposal reviews to confirm materials stay on message, meet client requirements, and adhere to a firmwide style and branding guidelines.
- Schedule and facilitate go/no-go meetings, proposal kickoff meetings, technical solutioning sessions, and shortlist interview prep meetings as needed.
- Lead the development of graphics, including organizational charts, infographics and presentations/shortlist interviews presentations with visuals that support strategic messaging.
- Plan, coordinate and execute client events, tradeshows, and conferences, working closely with internal business development professionals and external vendors.
- Lead data management activities including maintaining up-to-date project descriptions, knowledge management systems, content libraries, and CRM entries.
- Oversee the closing of project deliverables.
- Manage the submittal completion of industry awards (ACEC, ENR, Topping Out, etc.) for local trade or national trade publications.
- Support internal/external communications.
- Attend professional associations, conferences, and build professional networks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field. Applicable years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
- Minimum 4 years in marketing, business development, or sales with a professional services firm. Experience at an A/E firm preferred.
- APMP or SMPS certification, or equivalent, preferred.
- Excellent communication skills: verbal, technical writing, and creative writing as well as proofreading and editing.
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- High level of attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign strongly preferred.
- Certified Proposal Management Professional - APMP preferred or equivalent preferred.
