Responsibilities
- Lead the property tax function for a large, multi-state real estate portfolio across hundreds of taxing jurisdictions.
- Oversee annual property tax budgeting, forecasting, accruals, expense analysis, and payment processes.
- Develop long-term property tax strategies while evaluating legislative changes and their financial impact.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Asset Management, Technology, and executive leadership.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors responsible for property tax payments, appeals, compliance, and legal matters.
- Direct the appeals process across multiple states while ensuring compliance and cost optimization.
- Prepare executive-level reporting, financial analyses, and presentations supporting business decisions.
- Utilize reporting and planning tools to improve forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for the property tax team while fostering collaboration across departments.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and technology enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Real Estate, or a related field.
- Progressive leadership experience managing complex, multi-state property tax operations.
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, accrual accounting, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Experience managing third-party vendors, consultants, and external business partners.
- Able to communicate effectively with executive leadership and present financial information to senior stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical and systems skills with experience utilizing reporting and planning tools.
- A strong understanding of property tax regulations and valuation processes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Real estate industry experience is preferred; candidates from mortgage or other related industries are encouraged to apply.
- Property tax certification is preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits

- Travel: Minimal (approximately 2-3 trips annually)
