Property Maintenance Technician

Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs building and fixture repairs and/or replacements of, drywall, windows, doors, locks, toilets, plumbing leaks. water heaters, electrical outlets and switches, vent fans, florescent light ballasts, etc.
• Prem and paints residential and administrative offices spaces.
• Installs or replaces shelves, cabinets, laptop lockdowns, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, stoves, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers.
• Builds picnic tables and shelving units.
• Detail cleans residential spaces and cleans carpet.
• Cleans gutters, pressure washes facilities and sidewalks.
• Mows lawns, weeds flower beds and sidewalks, trims bushes, rakes leaves, shovels snow.
• Deices sidewalks, driveways, porches.
• Maintains equipment such as pressure washer, carpet vac, push mower, maintenance truck, power tools, hand tools, etc.
• Schedules and executes routine maintenance of facilities.
• Collects and hauls trash, Moves furniture, office equipment, files, etc.
• Does related work as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of the installation, repair and maintenance practices, tools, and materials used in the skilled trades including carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing, janitorial, electrical and horticultural maintenance;
• Ability to perform a variety of skilled repair and general maintenance tasks;
• Ability to work from heights and on ladders and scaffolding and perform heavy manual labor;
• Ability to prepare and maintain routine records;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and external contractors;
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
• Ability to operate a vehicle.

Typical Education, Training And Work Experience

• A High School Diploma or GED preferred and extensive experience in common building trades work.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Valid Virginia Driver's License.
