Property Maintenance Technician
About the role
Big Top, a manufacturer and installer of high-performance fabric structures, is seeking a Property Maintenance Technician to maintain, repair, and improve company facilities and grounds. This role ensures a safe, functional, and efficient work environment by performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and general facility infrastructure. The technician works independently and collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to support operational continuity and facility reliability. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and facility systems.
- Conducts preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules.
- Inspects facilities and identifies maintenance needs, safety hazards, and areas requiring improvement.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, and general building issues.
- Responds promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
- Maintains and repairs facility fixtures, furniture, doors, windows, lighting, and equipment.
- Supports facility renovations, relocations, and equipment installations.
- Coordinates and assists with contractor and vendor activities as needed.
- Maintains facility grounds, including basic landscaping, parking areas, and exterior structures.
- Ensures compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Keeps accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports.
- Monitors inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Operates tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance facility reliability and efficiency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of maintenance, facilities, building operations, or related experience preferred.
- Previous facility maintenance experience a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving history required.
Skills
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair facility-related issues.
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals and technical documents.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to perform a variety of indoor and outdoor maintenance tasks.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist where needed.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers and management.
- Heavy lifting (50 lbs) is required on a regular basis.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and grounds by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to safely operate ladders and maintenance tools.
- Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform maintenance and inspection duties.

Schedule
Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Big Top is headquartered in Perry, Florida, about 50 miles outside of Tallahassee. Perry offers an abundance of outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, and boating.
