Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and manage a book of large, complex property accounts, including shared and layered placements, high-hazard occupancies, and multinational programs.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key brokers, clients, and industry partners to drive profitable growth.
- Assess and price risks by analyzing complex property exposures, including natural catastrophe modeling, and loss history.
- Collaborate across departments, including Risk Engineering, Claims, and Reinsurance, to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to client needs.
- Lead negotiations on terms and conditions, endorsements, and manuscript wordings to ensure appropriate coverage and risk mitigation.
- Stay up to date on market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging risks, contributing to pricing strategies, product development, and underwriting guidelines.
- Represent HDI at industry events and client meetings to promote our capabilities and expand market presence.
Requirements
- 10+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, with a focus on large accounts, complex occupancies, or multinational programs.
- Bachelor's degree required; industry certifications such as CPCU, ARM, or equivalent preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of property forms, manuscript wording, reinsurance structures, and pricing methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to mentor and coach junior team members.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining broker and client relationships in major hubs.
- Willingness to travel for client, broker, and industry engagements.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation range: $170,000 - $220,000 per year.
