Property Control Specialist

Pay Range: $18.32 - $22.90/hr ($38,109 - $47,636 annual compensation). Position requires working 2nd (2p-10p) or 3rd (10p-6a) shift, weekends, holidays, and outdoors in inclement weather as needed.

This Property Control Attendant position is with the City of Fort Worth Police Department Auto Pound Unit. You will contribute to the Department’s strategic goals, mission, and vision by performing routine duties related to the receipt, inspection, and inventory of impounded vehicles. You will report to the Property Control Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Inventory property and inspect impounded vehicles for damage; document information on an impound card.
• Escort wreckers to storage lot and ensure vehicles reach assigned parking locations.
• Escort wreckers, customers retrieving vehicles, attorneys, and insurance representatives on lot; locate vehicles and list all property removed from vehicle; ensure release of correct vehicle.
• Prepare and move unclaimed vehicles to designated auction areas for public online auction.
• Maintain facility grounds.
• Provide upkeep and care of City vehicles.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. The following will result in disqualification:
  • Felony Convictions or Felony Deferred Adjudication.
  • Class A Misdemeanor Conviction.
  • Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years.
  • Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication.
  • Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years.
  • Open Arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor).
  • All Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift and auto-impound experience.
• Customer service skills.
• Experience working with property inventory and inspection.
• Bilingual (Spanish).

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, and workspace restrictions.
• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
