Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing technical support to property appraisal, assessment, and administration staff for the annual establishment of equalized values. Some duties include:
- Aid in preparing, processing, and organizing appraisal materials, rolls, and forms used in projects
- Monitor and manage district office emails and phone correspondence
- Perform data entry and database maintenance
- Assist in providing technical information to taxpayers, assessors, local government officials, and other district staff related to property assessment, forms and applications
Salary Information
- The starting pay rate for the Property Assessment Technician 1 is $22.72 per hour, and is in Pay Schedule 06, Pay Range 11.
- The starting pay rate for the Property Assessment Technician 2 is $24.54 per hour, and is in Pay Schedule 06, Pay Range 12.
Job Details
- Background Checks: Final candidates will be subject to criminal background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks.
- I-9 Requirements: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Probationary Period: A 12-month probationary period may be required.
- Remote Work/Telework: Remote/Telework is offered at 40% at three months of employment, and 60% at six months of employment, with a satisfactory performance evaluation. Remote work is intended to be performed primarily in the State of Wisconsin and is subject to change based on business needs.
- Work Schedule: The position is a part-time (50%) position with staff working 20 hours per week. An employee may work during daytime hours Monday through Friday.
- Travel: The position does not require travel.
- Special Requirement: Must attain Wisconsin Assessor Certification at the Assessment Technician level within six months of initial appointment.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications for Property Assessment Technician 1 (PAT 1):
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Suite or equivalent
- Experience using math skills
- Experience with office support functions
- Experience providing customer service by phone, in writing and/or in person
- Ability to work with detailed data involving forms and numbers
- Well Qualified Qualifications for Property Assessment Technician 2 (PAT 2):
- Additional software experience or familiarity using any of the following: Geographic Information System (GIS), Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) software, or SharePoint
- Experience with customer service in a real estate office setting
- Familiarity working with property assessment/valuation and/or real estate principles
