About the role
The Property Accountant prepares monthly financial statements for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements for a portfolio of properties
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and maintain appropriate workpaper schedules
- Prepare and enter monthly journal entries, including accruals as necessary
- Reconcile bank accounts and resolve reconciliation issues
- Track available cash balances for assigned portfolio
- Upload budgets and other transactions into accounting software
- Prepare and submit 3rd party vendor invoices to accounts payable department for processing
- Assist in calculating excess cash distributions for assigned portfolio
- Prepare year-end workpaper packages for audits and tax returns to be provided to outside CPAs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Minimum of two (2) years general ledger/journal entry experience, preferably in public accounting
- CPA license a plus
- Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong communication and customer service orientation
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
