Responsibilities
- Review vendor invoices in the accounting platform to confirm proper coding, documentation, and approval workflow before processing.
- Maintain accurate accounting records by preparing monthly accruals and completing credit card, bank, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Lead month-end close activities for multiple entities, ensuring financial data is finalized accurately and on schedule.
- Prepare entity-level and consolidated financial statements for internal reporting and decision-making needs.
- Support investor payment activities and assist with related accounting entries and reconciliations.
- Cook up annual 1099 processing and address vendor questions related to invoice status or payment issues.
- Oversee check runs and distribution while helping maintain reliable internal controls and sound accounting practices.
- Partner with Property Managers and operational staff to resolve accounting questions and provide financial guidance as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- 2 to 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a deadline-driven environment.
- Background in real estate or property management accounting is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, accrual accounting, and general ledger activity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex transactions independently.
- Educated and effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with vendors, auditors, and external accounting partners.
