Responsibilities

  • Record and reconcile receipts on a weekly basis, ensuring alignment with expected revenue for each property.
  • Monitor payments, address overdue accounts, and assist with timely deposits to optimize cash flow.
  • Review and input approved invoices into accounting software, maintaining accurate records.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including budget comparisons, and property-specific lease information.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly and monitor accounts receivable for overdue balances.
  • Collaborate with property managers to ensure timely revenue collection.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of income and expenses, comparing actual performance against projections and identifying significant variances.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual tax reporting and support audits as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, with a background in property or multifamily accounting strongly preferred.
  • Strong command of accounting principles, accrual-based accounting, financial reporting, and general ledger activity.
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and cash management processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build, update, and analyze detailed spreadsheets and financial schedules.
  • Working knowledge of apartment operations and the ability to interpret management agreements and their impact on accounting treatment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and support others while collaborating effectively with accounting and operations management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues early and resolve them in a timely manner.
