About the role
We are looking for a Property Accountant to support financial operations for real estate assets in Memphis, Tennessee. This role is suited for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage daily accounting activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings a solid understanding of property accounting principles and is comfortable working with Yardi in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting activity for assigned properties, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with established accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly close deliverables, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for review.
- Maintain the general ledger and investigate variances or discrepancies to keep financial data complete and reliable.
- Apply accrual-based accounting practices to recognize expenses and revenue in the appropriate reporting periods.
- Produce property-level financial reports and assist with analysis that supports operational and management decisions.
- Use Yardi software to process accounting tasks, manage records, and generate required financial information.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues, clarify balances, and improve reporting accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of accounting experience, with property management or real estate accounting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of property accounting fundamentals and general ledger maintenance.
- Experience completing month-end close activities in a detail-focused accounting environment.
- Working knowledge of accrual accounting and standard financial reporting practices.
- Proficiency with Yardi software or comparable property accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
