Property Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Property Accountant to support the financial operations of a portfolio of residential communities in Dallas, Texas. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage reporting deadlines, analyze financial activity, and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and clients. The successful candidate will contribute to accurate month-end close activities, uphold accounting standards, and help ensure each property’s financial records remain complete and reliable. Responsibilities: • Produce monthly financial reporting packages by preparing journal entries, reviewing general ledger activity, and assembling supporting balance sheet schedules • Deliver accurate and timely reports to property leadership, business partners, and clients while maintaining consistent communication on deadlines and outstanding items • Track property cash activity, monitor account balances, and help ensure funds are managed appropriately across the portfolio • Investigate review notes, resolve accounting discrepancies, and document corrective actions taken to address outstanding issues • Analyze fluctuations in financial results and provide clear explanations for material variances in operating statements and related reports • Calculate management fees, coordinate related invoice processing, and support timely payment of required obligations • Reconcile intercompany and inter-project accounts on a regular basis and follow through on unresolved balances until cleared • Oversee the timely processing of debt service, tax payments, sales tax filings, owner distributions, and bank reconciliations while maintaining supporting schedules • Assist with property onboarding, dispositions, and ownership transitions by entering opening balances, preparing prorations, and recording closing entries • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience in place of a degree • At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including property accounting or real estate-related financial management • Strong working knowledge of month-end close, accrual-based accounting, general ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation • Experience using Yardi and Microsoft Excel to manage accounting records, reconciliations, and reporting tasks • Ability to review business and financial documents, identify issues, and apply sound judgment to resolve them effectively • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to respond to complex questions from internal teams and clients • High level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment • Commitment to service, collaboration, and maintaining accuracy while adapting to new processes and business needs Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
