Property Accountant

About the role

CWS Capital Partners is a fully integrated real estate investment company specializing in the acquisition, development, reposition, and management of luxury apartments across Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Tennessee, and California. The accounting team, based primarily in Austin, Texas, consists of 20+ dedicated professionals managing the books and records for approximately 30,000 apartment units held in 1,200 partnerships and other entities.

We are seeking a Property Accountant to handle designated tasks for a portfolio of apartment properties. The position includes training and support from one or more members of the accounting team.

Responsibilities

• Capex Reimbursement Draws
• Insurance claim reimbursement draws
• Property tax and insurance accruals
• Deferred revenues
• Prepaid journal entries and reversing journal entries
• Reclassification of A/P payables
• Research and follow-up on open operating cash items
• Reconciliation of operating cash
• Compliance with lender reporting

Requirements

• Understanding of the flow of financial statements (balance sheet and income statement)
• Understanding of accrual accounting (versus cash basis accounting)
• Understanding of retained earnings/equity accounts
• Understanding of the statement of cash flows
• Understanding of depreciation and amortization concepts and practices
• Strong attention to detail
• Working knowledge of Yardi Software is a plus
