Key Responsibilities of the Property Accountant Manage the full-cycle accounting process for an assigned portfolio of multifamily propertiesPrepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliationsPerform month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysisMonitor cash flow, forecast cash needs, and oversee property-level banking activityCalculate and process management fees, owner distributions, accruals, and reclassesCoordinate with on-site property management teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reportingReview financial statements and provide analysis and commentary to leadershipMonitor lender escrows, replacement reserves, debt service, and other property obligationsAssist with annual budgets, reforecasts, audits, and special projectsSupport property acquisitions, dispositions, and new property onboarding as needed Qualifications For The Property Accountant Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required3+ years of property accounting experience, with multifamily experience strongly preferredExperience managing the full accounting cycle for multiple propertiesStrong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, month-end close, and account reconciliationsExperience with Yardi, RealPage, MRI, or similar property management/accounting softwareAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills requiredExperience with cash forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting preferredCPA or CPA-track is a plus, but not requiredMust be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements Benefits & Growth Hybrid work scheduleMedical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchGenerous PTO and paid holidaysProfessional development and career advancement opportunitiesCollaborative team environment with long-term stability The Bottom Line This Property Accountant opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional with multifamily property accounting experience who enjoys owning a portfolio, partnering with operations, and delivering accurate financial reporting.
