Propane Service Tech Apprentice

About the role

The Service Tech Apprentice will participate in a structured, hands-on training program to learn the foundational skills of both the Propane Service Technician and/or Delivery Driver roles. This position supports the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and delivery of propane systems and products to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of propane tanks, gas lines, regulators, and appliances.
• Shadow licensed service technicians and CDL drivers to learn safety protocols, troubleshooting, leak detection, and system testing.
• Participate in ride-along and support delivery of propane products using bobtail or cylinder trucks (as applicable).
• Absorb and document readings from pressure gauges, meters, and service logs.
• Learn to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at job sites and company facilities.
• Attend all safety and technical training sessions, including those required for CDL licensing and CETP certification.
• Interact with customers professionally to provide information, answer questions, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Serve on the on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Entry level position, some mechanical knowledge preferred
• Ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License required Class B with Hazmat and tanker endorsements within 6 months of employment
• DOT Physical required within 60 days
• General mechanical aptitude (hand tools)
• Basic computer skills
• Good communication and teamwork skills
