About the role

This position is remote.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all procurement activities related to a specific construction project site.
  • Purchase, negotiate, and deal with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
  • Maintain cost-effectiveness while adhering to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and risk mitigation.
  • Develop alternate solutions with vendors when product is delayed or unavailable.
  • Manage invoices, prepare purchase orders, and monitor pricing on all orders.
  • Support project managers and others on purchasing needs and in the development of next-step solutions on cost codes, tax/non-tax, and all non-returnable materials.
  • Reconcile invoices to match purchase orders and work with accounts payable and accounts receivable to groups to correctly price materials on service work orders.
  • Support and process daily tool and equipment rental or purchase orders per guidelines provided.
  • Support prefab's daily orders.
  • Complete material transfers within CMS or other systems on an agreed-upon schedule.
  • Act as key contact for coordinating and maintaining material.
  • Utilize current standards for all purchasing activities to achieve prompt completion and submitting purchase orders.
  • Collaborate frequently with vendors and coworkers to resolve issues on invoices, utilizing the accounts payable invoice router.
  • Coordinate daily orders coming in and out, verifying and monitoring all pricing, shipping details, and other information.
  • Resolve issues related to incorrect material quantities or items being shipped, or delays in materials.
  • Create and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, project managers, office, and field staff.
  • Develop and maintain lists of known vendors in specific markets for future reference.
  • Research new products and ideas, obtain product and vendor information, and pricing to meet purchasing budgets and bids.
  • Utilize LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promote and model the Company mission, vision, and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and providing high-quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in business, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in electrical construction or a related field.
  • Previous experience with Astea or other computerized, web-based procurement and inventory software and/or systems.
  • Knowledge of the electrical construction industry, how the submittal process works on large buyouts, and an understanding of related materials is preferred.
  • Some divisions may require previous experience with lighting, generators, and switchgear.
  • Ability to investigate cost reduction opportunities and supplier’s ability to meet quantity, delivery, quality, technical requirements, and resolution of vendor issues as they arise.
  • Strong process orientation.
  • Skills to read, interpret, and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Qualifications

  • Travel to project sites is required, which may include temporary relocation for the duration of the project if your home base is outside of a reasonable daily commute.
