About the role
Intermountain Electric Inc. (IME) is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join their growing team. This role supports the organization in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment by assisting in developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include Safety Program Administration, Inspections & Risk Assessment, Training & Communication, and Regulatory Compliance.
Responsibilities
- Safety Program Administration: Maintain safety policies, procedures, and records (incidents, inspections, and training).
- Stay current on regulations to keep the company compliant.
- Act as the main contact for employee safety concerns.
- Perform regular site inspections and hazard assessments.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Track safety trends to improve performance.
- Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training.
- Work with supervisors and crews to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and industry standards.
- Monitor PPE use and ensure proper maintenance.
- Support planning and drills for emergency response and evacuation procedures.
- Enforce OSHA electrical safety standards.
- Ensure equipment is safe for use, proper PPE is worn, and employees follow lockout/tagout and safe work practices.
Requirements
- Knowledge of safety standards and best practices.
- Understanding of risk assessment methodologies.
- Expertise in personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and usage.
- Familiarity with safety management systems and documentation processes.
- Current awareness of emerging safety technologies and industry trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas: OSHA 30-hour certification or higher preferred; additional safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST) are a plus. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees at all levels.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare clear, concise reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a combination relevant experience, preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a safety or compliance-related role; experience in construction or electrical work is a plus.

Pay
$32.69 - $44.23/hr. *Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*
