Project Mgr. Renewable
Georgia Power’s Renewables & Resiliency team is seeking a Renewables Project Manager to lead Behind the Meter (BTM) renewable programs. This role manages customer and stakeholder engagement, facilitates residential customer generation projects, ensures proper billing setup, and provides ongoing support for thousands of BTM customer generators.
About the role
The Project Manager serves as the primary interface for customers and solar developers, coordinates internal reviews (design plans, system impact studies, testing, metering, billing), and ensures safe, reliable interconnections. The position requires maintaining high customer and stakeholder satisfaction, building internal/external relationships, and demonstrating expert knowledge of BTM solar program options and processes. The role also involves advocating for the Company’s position on BTM issues to regulators, industry groups, and other stakeholders, while meeting regulatory requirements and program filing timelines. Additionally, the Project Manager advises program development peers on customer needs and implementation feasibility.
Responsibilities
- Serve as project manager and primary interface for customers and solar developers on BTM projects.
- Coordinate with internal partners to review design plans, conduct system impact studies, complete testing, program metering, and set up billing for safe and reliable interconnections.
- Communicate project updates, schedules, costs, challenges, and impacts to customers, solar developers, and internal departments.
- Solve complex problems related to BTM system design, program participation, education, analysis, customer contracting, and interconnection.
- Provide support and customer service to current and prospective solar customers, addressing inquiries from residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
- Ensure high-quality work, attention to detail, and external effectiveness; provide input on quality control improvements and program enhancements.
- Assist team leadership with tracking projects, program communication, document preparation, and process updates.
- Research, analyze, and enhance current and future customer programs.
- Support departmental functions and initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (degrees in business, finance, or engineering are desired).
- Prior experience in one or more of the following: project management, power delivery, generation, renewable development, utility rates and pricing, sales & marketing, or customer service.
- Two or more years of experience using data analysis tools, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Desired experience in project management, data analytics, direct customer interaction, electrical wiring, solar PV systems, distributed energy resources (DER), utility interconnections, or engineering.
- Desired experience reviewing technical drawings, one-line diagrams, site plans, electrical specifications, or engineering documentation.
- Desired experience in electric utility distribution, transmission, or generation.
- Desired experience with Southern Company customer service and billing tools and applications.
