Project Manager (Workday)

About the Role

Carex is partnering with a healthcare and technology partner to hire a Senior Project Manager – HR Technology Transformation for a 6-month contract with potential extension. This remote role will lead a strategic HR technology transformation focused on retiring ServiceNow HR Service Delivery (HRSD) and implementing replacement solutions across Human Resources, People Services, and Employee Experience functions.

The Senior Project Manager will oversee multiple concurrent workstreams, software vendors, business stakeholders, and technical teams while driving planning, execution, testing, deployment, and organizational readiness. This role requires a hands-on project leader who can establish structure, manage complex dependencies, drive accountability, and communicate effectively with executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-visibility, enterprise HR technology transformation initiative from planning through deployment and stabilization.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, and dependency tracking across multiple workstreams.
• Manage project scope, schedules, risks, issues, assumptions, decisions, financials, and overall project health.
• Lead activities related to ServiceNow HRSD retirement and transition planning.
• Coordinate implementations involving Freshservice for employee services and case management, ClickBoarding for onboarding/offboarding/crossboarding, and Pulpstream for Leave of Absence management and related workflows.
• Coordinate Workday integrations, business process transitions, and Genesys contact center and employee support center dependencies.
• Manage activities across multiple software vendors and implementation partners, tracking commitments, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
• Drive escalations and issue resolution while maintaining accountability across internal and external teams.
• Partner closely with HR, People Technology, IT, Security, Infrastructure, Service Management, and Operations teams.
• Facilitate requirements gathering, business process reviews, solution discussions, stakeholder workshops, project meetings, and leadership reviews.
• Coordinate integration planning and cross-functional technical dependencies.
• Support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment readiness, and cutover activities.
• Ensure business processes, documentation, training, communications, and organizational readiness activities are completed successfully.
• Prepare executive-ready status reports, dashboards, RAID logs, action items, and decision logs.
• Present project progress, risks, key decisions, and recommendations to leadership teams and steering committees.
• Coordinate post-go-live stabilization and ensure an effective transition to ongoing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• 8+ years of project management experience leading enterprise technology initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale SaaS implementations, platform migrations, or digital transformation initiatives.
• Strong vendor and stakeholder management experience, including coordinating multiple external partners.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and complex cross-functional teams.
• Experience managing project financials, schedules, risks, dependencies, testing, deployment, and organizational readiness.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and executive reporting skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to proactively manage ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex dependencies.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with ServiceNow HR Service Delivery (HRSD), Workday, Freshservice/Freshworks, ClickBoarding or similar onboarding platforms, Leave of Absence management solutions, employee experience or HR service delivery platforms, or Genesys contact center technologies strongly preferred.
• Healthcare industry experience preferred.
• PMP certification preferred.

Compensation

Rate: $65-$80/hour
