Project Manager - Water / Wastewater Design
This position is with Robert G. Campbell and Associates (RGC&A), a partner firm of Infrastructure, Consulting, & Engineering (ICE). The role is primarily onsite, working with teams based in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, with periodic work-from-home accommodation.
About the Role
RGC&A is seeking an enterprising individual with high technical and interpersonal skills to be a key performer on our site design team. The right candidate will apply general civil and environmental engineering design principles on a variety of public and private water/wastewater projects, including:
- Treatment facility planning and design
- Raw water intakes
- Water distribution lines
- Booster pump station design
- Regional water planning
- Water system mapping and management plans
- Lift station design
- Sanitary sewer system planning and design
- Asset management planning
- Permitting
The ideal candidate can work independently based on project requirements while collaborating with designers, engineers, and project managers to develop sustainable solutions. The position is primarily office-based but may involve periodic work from home.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of water/wastewater treatment facilities, distribution systems, and collection networks
- Work with public clients to identify funding opportunities and assist with funding applications
- Perform water and sewer modeling and system mapping
- Work closely with existing private and local government clients
- Perform field investigations, data collection, and site inspections
- Collaborate with site development, survey, and inspection staff to provide turn-key projects for clients
- Prepare environmental impact studies
- Recruit and mentor new staff to grow the utility design team
Requirements
- Expertise with water distribution and wastewater collection systems
- Understanding of topographic surveys
- Ability to develop project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in creating project specifications and bidding documents
- Project management and administration duties
- Experience working with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must complete a pre-employment screening; RGC&A is a drug-free workplace
Qualifications
- Minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited university or related technical certificate
- Minimum of 10 years of experience and PE licensure (licensed in FL, NC, SC, or TN, or ability to obtain licensure quickly through reciprocity)
- Proficiency in HAESTAD (or similar modeling software) and CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson, and/or MicroStation
- GIS proficiency or demonstrated aptitude to learn
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Up to 8 hours per day in an office environment
- Travel and client meetings required, with occasional standing and walking
- Occasional lifting of lightweight office supplies and materials (up to 20 pounds)
- Controlled indoor office environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions
- Ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects
- Proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow
- Capacity to sit for extended periods
Schedule
RGC&A offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to project deliverables. This is primarily an onsite position reporting to the RGC&A office 5 days per week, with occasional work-from-home options.
