Responsibilities

  • Manage and assist with the design of complex multi-discipline projects.
  • Cookordination sound project management principles with other disciplines.
  • Prepare effective work plans and labor budgets for approval by Department Manager.
  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy the client as well as control work and productivity.
  • Prepare advanced engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.
  • Responsible for the quality control/quality assurance process on all assigned projects.
  • Oversee the work and productivity on assigned projects.
  • Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, and schedule of deliverables.
  • Participates in formulating and coordinating proposals and provides other Marketing support, including Business Development.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilization of the Colliers MVP tool for preparation of project design costs.
  • Develop strong, mutual-trust based, client relationships.
  • Identify the project team, work packages and tasks, evaluation methods, productivity targets, schedule of deliverables and man power needed on projects.
  • Cross sell Colliers services where appropriate.
  • Hold team meetings ensuring procedures governing review and approval of projects are followed prior to submission of completed work.
  • Negotiate with clients on any scope changes relative to project budgets and schedules subject to supervisors’ approval.
  • Cookordinate and communicate effectively with all employees involved in the project to ensure high utilization rates (i.e. Project team meetings).
  • Review monthly labor and cost reports to ensure projects are being completed at the pre-determined goal.
  • Ensure everyone involved is working in accordance with all project planning and profit control procedures.
  • Ensure that all scope revisions affecting the project schedule and/or budget are discussed with the client.
  • Ensure that all out-of-scope work and associated fees are approved by the client prior to performing the services.
  • Work efficiently with the Billing Department to authorize and transmit bills to client.
  • Follows up with clients for timely payments.
  • Mentor junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices, and enhancing corporate objectives.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
  • Prepare and issue comprehensive proposals and change orders.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare conceptual layouts in consultation with client.
  • Review utility plans, including large scale or complex projects.
  • Conduct team and client meetings.
  • Sign plans and reports prepared under engineer’s direction.
  • Present public testimony on projects prepared under engineer’s direction.
  • Complete project billing and collections within set parameters.
  • Responsible for total quality control.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering, or civil engineering.
    • PE license is required.
    • Experience with permitting with NC DOH and DEC is required.
    • 8-10+ years of experience in the civil/environmental engineering field with concentration in water/wastewater design.
    • Experience with AutoCAD & OpenRoads is desired.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to manage clients and develop new business.
    • Design experience with water and waste water treatment plant process and design.
    • Extensive knowledge in permitting requirements and processes for water / wastewater collection and treatment projects.
    • Ability to build a talented team of water /wastewater professionals that are experts in their field.
    • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
